Tak trochu ode všeho / A little bit of everything / Un poco de todo (cz/en/es)

But the biggest “Christmas” so far I felt when I could finally pick up and especially unwrap the amazing fifteen kilos package from my parents! And I found many surprises in, it not just for me but also for my friends!!! It was all one huge adventure thinking about the package - will it arrive? Or not? Will it arrive late? Will they break something in it? To Colombia it arrived on time, but then it got complicated in the office in Bogota, they somehow forgot to let me know about the package and it took them about two weeks to send me the delivery note. It took just a little bit longer to solve few more bureaucratic issues, but finally I have it at home!!!

I haven’t written for a long time. There are so many things that one can live and experience that it is easy to forget to record and archive. I have new photos, but I am still missing the stories to go with them, I have stories to which I haven’t made any photos...But I don’t want you to think that I have forgotten you and because of that I decided to write this before-Christmas article about “A little bit of everything”. To let you know what’s going on here (and with me).

For those who are asking - yes, they celebrate Christmas. Happily, merrily, with food and drinks and because they are good Christians also with visits of the church. The traditions from all around the world are blended here.

The first signs of Christmas for me appeared when they started to decorate all the shops and houses with Christmas decorations and especially with colourful lights in the end of November. Little by little the whole city started to shine and now, just before Christmas, it looks like one big carnival. For me the first touch of Christmas came on December 7 when they celebrate “Las Velitas” (candles) - in the evening after dark the people go out of their houses and apartments and light a row of candles, somewhere they are making wishes while lighting the candles, somewhere they just spend the time with their family. The candles are lit to illuminate to help the Virgin Maria to find her way to Bethlehem. So says the legend. Despite the fact that many people go this night for entertainment and music for me it was quite sentimental night looking at all those candles on the streets and think of all the people I have around the world with whom I would like to spend Christmas.

One of our interactive classes of English was for me another encounter with the Christmas atmosphere. We went to Parque Las Aguas with my students. The parque is all illuminated and decorated with Christmas decorations, we were listening to Christmas carols and speaking about the Christmas habits in Colombia, the Czech Republic and all around the world the whole time.

And now something little bit different - Colombia offers incredible opportunities, it continues to amaze me. Especially the people - heart, open, full of energy to change things for the better. I’m surfing on a wave of inspiration, work on interesting projects (I’m lucky to have a good job that pays me and that I like and I still have a little bit of time to invent the stupidities) and discovering what I am capable of.

No jo, zdál se mi nějak těžký na pouhých 15 kilo :D / So I was corrected that the package had 27 kilos, well, it seemed to me a little bit too heavy for only 15 kilos :D
